The Department of Defense (DOD) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) are planning a joint DOD/NIST/Industry 3Di PDF TDP Workshop on January 30-31, 2018 to be held at the NIST facility in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
Traditionally, 2D engineering drawings have been the core of technical data packages as defined by MIL-STD-31000 and the ASME Y14 series of standards. DOD is releasing a new revision to MIL-STD-31000 Technical Data Packages, which will include 3D Intelligent (3Di) PDF technical data as a better, more capable option than 2D drawings. This is part of an overarching effort by DOD to transform to a modern technical data infrastructure based on 3Di PDF models. This workshop is a joint effort by DOD/NIST and Industry to discuss and advance this initiative.
Jennifer Herron, CEO of Action Engineering, will be presenting on how 3D PDF enables the Technical Data Package (TDP).
How a 3D PDF Enables the TDP
- MBE and MBD Definitions Today
- Parts of the TDP: Source, File Format, Validation Status
- Understanding 3D PDF Capability
