Structural, stress, and tolerance analysis simulations for products are an essential piece of producing a quality design. Connecting these analyses with the native CAD model and semantic product and manufacturing information (PMI), that is, digitally associated dimensions and tolerances, is important for automating these essential analyses. Dr. Andreas Vlahinos of Advanced Engineering Solutions is an expert in advanced engineering analysis techniques required to meet complex design requirements. He will present methods for incorporating analysis and simulation features into MBD and the native CAD model at the 3D Collaboration and Interoperability Congress (3D CIC), being held in Golden, Colorado on October 25 & 26, 2016.
Presentation Title: Incorporating Analysis and Simulation into MBD
Abstract: Analysis and simulation features for Model-Based Definition (MBD) will be presented along with discussion on geometry, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and product and manufacturing information (PMI). Leveraging digitally associated PMI to incorporate the following analysis and simulation features for defense industry applications will be presented:
- Mass properties and center of gravity locations
- Sigma quality levels of tolerance analysis
- Safety factors for stress analyses
- Natural frequencies
- Mesh controls
- Loading conditions
