Allison Barnard Feeney from the National Institute of Standards and Technology will present at the 2017 3D Collaboration & Interoperability Congress. 3D CIC and the Quality Information Framework Symposium will be held in Golden, Colorado on October 3-5, 2017.
Presentation
Smart Manufacturing: Hopes, Successes, Gaps
This presentation will provide an overview of NIST’s Smart Manufacturing research programs. Allison Barnard Feeney will present recent successes in the Smart Manufacturing Operations Planning and Control Program’s efforts to spin a standards-based digital thread that enables smart manufacturing. Allison will also take a look forward to gaps that are impeding realization of the benefits of Smart Manufacturing and how NIST is planning to address them.
Presenter
Allison Barnard Feeney is a supervisory mechanical engineer in the Systems Integration Division of the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Engineering Laboratory, overseeing the Systems Engineering Group. She is Program Manager for the Smart Manufacturing Operations Planning and Control Program, and co-leads its Digital Thread for Smart Manufacturing project. This program addresses national problems related to advanced manufacturing such as cybersecurity and wireless systems for industrial environments, integration of languages and models for lifecycle engineering, and monitoring, diagnostics, prognostics and control of smart manufacturing systems.
Ms. Barnard Feeney has worked in the areas of manufacturing standards development, implementation, conformance testing, product data standards, and systems integration throughout her NIST career. She has been a key participant in the development of the STEP product data standard (STEP – Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data, ISO 10303) and is the Chair of the US Technical Advisory Group to ISO TC 184/ SC 4, and the US member of SC 4’s Policy and Planning Committee. She is now working to integrate STEP with other product lifecycle standards, focusing on flow of information downstream to manufacturing and inspection. Ms. Barnard Feeney is a past recipient of a Department of Commerce Silver Medal, PDES, Inc.’s Bryan K. Martin Technical Excellence Award, PDES, Inc.’s Brad Ridgon Technical Management Award, and the NIST Edward Bennet Rosa Award.
3D CIC + QIF Symposium
The 3D Collaboration & Interoperability Congress featuring the Quality Information Symposium focuses on 3D CAD collaboration and interoperability for the entire product lifecycle. With the 2017 theme of UNITE: Engineering & Shop Floor Collaboration, real users share their experiences with turning design concepts into manufacturing product reality using 3D models. The joint 3D CIC and QIF Symposium event will be held October 3-5, 2017 at the American Mountaineering Center in Golden, Colorado. Find out more and register for 3D CIC + QIF Symposium at 3dcic.com.
