Mark Nielsen of TechAzul will present at the 2017 Quality Information Framework (QIF) Symposium. The 3D Collaboration & Interoperability Congress (3D CIC) and the QIF Symposium will be held in Golden, Colorado on October 3-5, 2017.
Presentation
Getting to the End Game with QIF: Useable Parts
Modern manufacturing workflows stand to benefit enormously from Model-Based Definition—including the application of 3D Product and Manufacturing Information (PMI). Using machine-readable PMI from the design model downstream in manufacturing and inspection creates the opportunity for automation of First Article Inspection reports, optimization of the manufacturing and inspection processes, data analytics for continuous manufacturing process improvement, and traceability and linking of design manufacturing and inspection information.
This presentation will show the practical use of the Quality Information Framework (QIF) format with state-of-the-art tools to enable a streamlined and efficient MBD workflow. Starting with computer-aided design models, the PMI information will be exported to the QIF format and enhanced throughout the downstream flow with a bill of characteristics, First Article Inspection report, optimized measurement plan, through inspection execution. Measurement data is then converted to useable inspection results appended to the QIF file, from which the results can be easily viewed by the engineer or anyone in the enterprise along with component and producer analytics such as Cpk and Ppk.

3D CIC + QIF Symposium
The 3D Collaboration & Interoperability Congress featuring the Quality Information Symposium focuses on 3D CAD collaboration and interoperability for the entire product lifecycle. With the 2017 theme of UNITE: Engineering & Shop Floor Collaboration, real users share their experiences with turning design concepts into manufacturing product reality using 3D models. The joint 3D CIC and QIF Symposium event will be held October 3-5, 2017 at the American Mountaineering Center in Golden, Colorado. Find out more and register for 3D CIC + QIF Symposium at 3dcic.com.
