Join Jennifer Herron, Chair of the ASME Y14 Subcommittee 46 on Product Definition for Additive Manufacturing and CEO of Action Engineering, along with Remington Richmond, Y14.46 Standards and Certification Engineer, Standardization and Testing at ASME, for an open dialogue and discussion on how Additive Manufacturing (AM) design and manufacturing processes can potentially benefit from Y14.46.
In response to the growing use of Additive Manufacturing in global industries, ASME has developed a new GD&T draft standard that applies to parts and assemblies designed in AM environments.
Y14.46 – 2017, Product Definition for Additive Manufacturing, presents definitions of terms and features that are unique to additive manufacturing technologies and includes recommendations for uniform specifications in product definition data sets and related documents. It is an extension of ASME’s widely used Y14.5 standard, which for years has provided engineers with the fundamental language for drafting and designing products and systems.
“We’ve worked with an amazing group of industry experts to provide a first draft of 3D-based (MBD) standards that extend existing ASME Y14 standards. For those currently producing drawings for 3D printing (Additive Manufacturing) we are eager for you to review the standard and provide feedback. Thanks to the National Institute of Standards and Technology for their amazing support of this standard,” said Jennifer Herron.
Who Should Participate:
Mechanical, design, drafting, production and manufacturing engineers quality assurance and control personnel involved in Additive Manufacturing / 3-D Printing; plus engineering supervisors and department heads across a broad range of Additive manufacturers – especially those with extended, global supply chains.
