Presentation
Trust Digital with the QIF by Curtis Brown of DMSC
The QIF ANSI standard is an information model for the manufacturing quality enterprise.
The Quality Information Framework is an ANSI Standard that is being harvested as an ISO standard via the ISO / TC 184/SC 4. The QIF is an information model for the manufacturing quality enterprise. The structure is feature-based and characteristic-centric, and the information is semantically liked to the model-based definition. Furthermore the QIF uses XML technology allowing for easier implementation with built-in code validation. Finally, the QIF uses persistent universally unique identifiers for key data objects for easier traceability. The presentation will also discussion the author’s thoughts on digital transformation and key aspects of a trusted model within a Model-Based Enterprise.
Presenter
Curtis Brown
President
DMSC
Mr. Curtis Brown is a long-time cheer-leader of digital manufacturing and quality. He is a lead mechanical engineer and MBE Focus Lead at the Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) managed and operated by Honeywell Federal Manufacturing and Technology. He is the chairmen for National Security Enterprise’s MBE Committee and a major contributor to the NSE’s next generation of the MBE Maturity Index. His “real work” history is as Quality Engineer supporting computer numerical controlled coordinate measurement machines (CMMs) and science-based manufacturing with a quality emphasis. He was the inventor of the model-based tolerance application Feature-Based Tolerancing (FBTol) Advisor tool. Curtis is the President of the Digital Metrology Standards Committee (DMSC) which fosters and produces ANSI approved digital interoperability standards such as the Qualify Information Framework (QIF).
3D Collaboration & Interoperability Congress
The 3D Collaboration & Interoperability Congress (3D CIC) focuses on 3D CAD collaboration and interoperability for the entire product lifecycle. The 2019 theme of Trust Digital showcasing organizations that have evolved to trusting digital: tracking their product’s condition digitally at each stage of the product lifecycle. 3D CIC 2019 will be held October 7-11, 2019 at the Buffalo Rose Events Center in Golden, Colorado.
