Model-Based Definition is an industry practice that uses 3D CAD models with annotations, instead of traditional 2D drawings, to communicate information between people and equipment. Information is conveyed through Data Packages, or Technical Data Packages. MBD reduces variability during data translation, provides more accurate product definition information, and enables wider dissemination of product data through increasingly digital corporate enterprises.
