Action Engineering is ready to head to Chicago for the 2026 MxD Summit.
This year’s theme for the MxD Summit is “Ready Now: Manufacturing at Mission Speed” and will focus on what the U.S. industrial base must do to deliver scalable manufacturing capabilities today, not tomorrow. MxD is bringing together government leaders, industry executives, manufacturers, and technology providers to tackle the gap between urgency and execution.
Action Engineering’s Presentation with Jennifer Herron, CEO/Founder.
Title: From Engineering Data to Production: Three Digital Manufacturing Strategies to Strengthen the Defense Industrial Base
Abstract:
Ready now for mission-speed manufacturing: Discover how standardized interoperable data, trusted 3D digital exchange, and AI-powered legacy data conversion enable a modern, faster, more resilient manufacturing across the Defense Industrial Base (DIB).
The U.S. Defense Industrial Base (DIB) faces a common challenge: manufacturing data exists in multiple formats, systems, and levels of quality that inhibit automation, supplier collaboration, and production readiness. Action Engineering will present lessons learned from three digital manufacturing projects that demonstrate practical approaches to accelerating digital transformation on the factory floor.
An MxD project, 24-04-06 Data Standards for Model-Based Manufacturing, establishes standardized engineering data structures that enable downstream manufacturing and quality systems to automatically consume model-based product information, reducing manual interpretation, streamlining inspection planning, and increasing production throughput.
A second MxD project, 24-02-02 Progressive Trustbuilding for Supply Chain Transparency, demonstrates how trusted 3D data exchange can improve supply chain collaboration by ensuring digital product definitions remain accurate, interoperable, and traceable across organizations and software platforms, creating greater confidence in distributed manufacturing environments.
The third project, an Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) STTR, explores the use of AI to convert legacy 2D engineering drawings into intelligent 3D models, enabling decades of technical data to be leveraged within modern Model-Based Enterprise (MBE) workflows.
Collectively, these projects illustrate how standards-based digital engineering, secure data interoperability, and AI-enabled data modernization can accelerate adoption of digital manufacturing across the industrial base. Attendees gain practical insights into methods that improve manufacturing readiness, overcome legacy data barriers, and shorten production timelines.
